Sifting balls, also known as poly balls or cleaning balls, are released in screening systems to thoroughly clean the equipment and prevent powder and ingredients to bulk up, avoiding clogging (or blinding). In fact sifting screens can be blinded and the product won’t flow freely through the screen, which can lead to a loss of capacity of the sifter.
